Robin Walenta is president/CEO of West Music Co., Inc., a seven-store, full-line retailer based in Coralville, Iowa.
Walenta attended the University of Northern Iowa and Middle Tennessee State University before joining West Music in 1982. She was named president/CEO of the company in 2007. Walenta is chair of the NAMM (the National Association of Music Merchants) Board of Directors and past board member for the NASMD (National Association of School Music Dealers). Walenta is also a past member of the SupportMusic Coalition, the Retail Print Music Dealers Association, and ASID, the Alliance of Independent Music Merchants and Omega. |

Award-winning executive communications leader and hands-on public relations and public affairs expert, Nancy Keane oversees all internal and external communications for Albertsons, Safeway and Vons in the Southwest Region. She is responsible for corporate citizenship, social responsibility, Albertsons, Safeway and Vons Foundation charitable giving, along with community and government relations efforts. |

Jim Bailey currently serves as Educator Relations Manager for D’Addario and Company where he manages D’Addario’s educator outreach and support initiatives including the D’Addario Education Collective. Mr. Bailey has also served as Percussion Caption Head of the seven-time world champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He has been a featured clinician throughout Japan, Europe, and the US and has delivered educational seminars at many of the top conventions in the US including PASIC, TMEA, TBA, The Midwest Clinic, and various state conferences.

Performing Artists

An internationally recognized musician, composer and educator, Maestro Jose Hernandez continues to break boundaries in the world of mariachi. A fifth generation mariachi, Jose brings the pleasure of mariachi music to audiences all across the globe. He is the founder of two world-famous mariachi bands: Mariachi Sol de México® and Reyna de Los Angeles®, America’s first all-female professional mariachi ensemble.
Jose continues to work to inspire and empower the next generation of musicians through many educational initiatives including his working with all of the participants in their various class levels at the National Mariachi Workshops for Educators. |

Willie Acuna, renowned harpist for Mariachi Sol de Mexico will return again this year to offer harp classes on the Serrano 34 harp that he has crafted. Five to six harps will be available for teachers to use during the week. Sign-ups for exploratory class harp for beginners who may be interested will be taken on Monday morning. Teachers in Intermediate and Advanced classes will have the opportunity to take a 75 minute group lesson. Six (6) harps are available to be sold at a very special workshop price at the end of the week so be sure to visit with West Music's satellite store on site about how YOU might be able to take advantage of this pricing!

This workshop is definitely worth attending. The Las Vegas Mariachi Program, implemented under the leadership of Marcia Neel, went from zero to one of the best programs in the country. Ten years ago the groups from Las Vegas were solid but quite basic. Today they are among the best in the nation. The Sweetwater School District brought Marcia in for workshops for all the mariachi instructors. I learned a great deal, even after 20 years of teaching mariachi music. Mark Fogelquist
