Four Bullet Points for Parents to Address

The thought to this approach uses a short opening statement, a single personal impact sentence,
and one or two clear questions around reason, access, and alternatives. This should make it easier for parents to stay on message and increase clarity for administrators especially with the budget deadline approaching. . .February 13, 2026

Opening (scripted):
1. Hello, my name is _____, and I’m the parent of a student enrolled in [music program] at [school]. I’m calling because I’m deeply disappointed that this program is being eliminated.
Personal Impact (one story, one sentence):
2. This program matters to my child because _____. (Example: confidence, belonging, motivation to attend school, academic success skills for their future.)
3. Three Clear Questions (parents choose ONE or TWO, not all):
  1. Reason
    • “Can you explain the specific reason this program is being cut?”
  2. Access
    • “How is the district ensuring students at all schools have equal access to music education?”
  3. Alternatives
    • “What options are being considered for students affected by this decision?”
Close (firm but polite):
4. Thank you for your time. If you’re not the right person to answer these questions, may someone follow up with me before the final budget decision on Friday, February 13?
